TIRUCHI, JULY 23 . The feud between loadmen and English vegetables commission agents at the Gandhi Market cropped up again today within a month of reconciliation. Consequently, lorries transporting English vegetables were diverted elsewhere from the market. Official sources said the feud was a sequel to the support given by a few loadmen on Thursday to a woman who was knocked down by a lorry transporting English vegetables. In the scuffle, which erupted between two groups, three load men Paramasivam, Kannan and Kaliamoorthy and two employees of the Commission agents Abubucker and Subramanian were arrested. The English vegetable commission agents took up cudgels on behalf of the lorry driver and had allegedly accused the load men of arm-twisting under the aegis of their union. The attempt of the commission agents to load and unload vegetables by themselves was resisted by the loadmen, who staged a dharna at the Market today. The Inspector of the Gandhi Market Police Station, T. Sundaramurthy, said the Revenue department was seized of the issue.
