Temperature
TIRUCHI, JULY 23. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 32.5 degree Celsius and a minimum of 26.5 degree Celsius.
New track laid
With the laying of the new track, trains could now be received on the platform situated in the main building thereby benefiting the railway passengers, railway officials here said. The Chief Workshop Engineer, Southern Railway, Chennai, N.S. Kasturi Rangan, Tiruchi Divisional Railway Manager D.K. Saraf and other senior railway officials were present.
12 arrested
Four nabbed
Three persons M.Murthy (35) of Thuvakudi, V.Babu (50) of Kulithalai and S.Manikandan (19) of Srirangam were found allegedly loitering under suspicious grounds and investigation revealed that the trio had planned to commit some theft, police said. They also took into custody a 54-year old person, K.Chinnappadas, who allegedly robbed a petty shop owner near the Ammamandapam of Rs.200 at knife-point. The police have registered cases and are investigating.
