More U-specials soon

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, JULY 23. The issue of U-specials has once again gathered momentum in Delhi University, with the possibility of more buses being introduced in the coming weeks finally looking possible. While the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) claims to have already submitted a list of 20 new routes to the Delhi Transport Minister, Haroon Yusuf, the Indian National Students' Organisation (INSO) today said it had been assured by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and the Transport Minister of new U-specials being started soon.

While pointing out that the DTC had come up with the proposal of advertising the route plans in newspapers to create awareness about the U-special routes, the INSO spokesperson, A. Kapoor Chaudhary, said one of the main demands put forward by the student outfit was the need for more U-specials for students coming from the National Capital Region (NCR).

Describing East Delhi and Outer Delhi as the problem areas, the student outfit has further asked the DTC to restore the buses on the routes close to the Metro. INSO said it had emphasised the need for bus passes to be made valid for students from the NCR areas.
