Cloudy sky again

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JULY 23.JULY 23.JULY The Capital's hope for rain continues into the weekend, with the weather department's forecast being a positive partly cloudy sky and the possibility of thundery developments or rain in some areas.

The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung and Palam was 38.1 and 38.6 degree Celsius, while the minimum was 30.6 degree Celsius in both places. The maximum and minimum humidity recorded at Safdarjung was 67 and 38 per cent, with Palam recording 62 and 37 per cent.

Teacher arrested

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JULY 23.JULY 23.JULY A 35-year-old teacher, who allegedly beat a student and broke his tooth at N.P. Model Co-education Secondary School in New Delhi this Thursday, was arrested today. She was later released on bail.

The police received a complaint from Dharma, the father of a student, Vikas, alleging that his teacher, Anju Mudgil, beat him and broke his tooth. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case under the Section 325 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested Anju.

Burglary

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JULY 23.JULY 23.JULY The house of an assistant editor with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) was burgled at Saraswati Vihar in North-West Delhi today. The burglars spent several hours in the house and took away not only jewellery worth around Rs. 2 lakhs but also ration items kept in the kitchen.

Vineet Joshi, who earlier worked with The Indian Express, said he along with other family members went to Mayur Vihar around 5 a.m.Mr. Joshi returned around 4 p.m. and found that except for the drawing room, all the rooms had been ransacked. The burglars had entered the house through the rear iron door after breaking its latch. They then broke two other doors and took out jewellery and Rs. 20,000 in cash from an almirah.

Fake visas

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JULY 23.JULY 23.JULY A person, who allegedly provided forged visas of different countries, was arrested from Dhaula Kuan by the Special Staff of the South-West Delhi police on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off that the suspect was on his way to Naraina from Dhaula Kuan on a scooter, a team led by Inspector R.S. Dahiya laid a trap near the Army Officers Colony and intercepted the scooter. The police seized two forged passports, visa forms, bogus blank/filled letterheads of a company named Venus India Tours, Bhikaji Cama Place and forged visiting cards of various companies kept in the scooter's boot.

Two burglars arrested

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHINEW, JULY 23.JULY 23.JULY Two illegal Bangladeshi immigrants allegedly involved in cases of burglary were arrested from Dwarka by the Special Staff of the South-West Delhi police this Thursday. The police recovered gold and silver jewellery worth thousands of rupees and other stolen articles from them.

The Special Staff recently found out that a gang of Bangladeshi nationals was committing burglary in the district. Further probe revealed that a Bangladeshi criminal, Mohammad Munir (32), was now in the Capital and he along with his accomplices had committed several burglaries. Acting on a tip-off that they would come to a market in Dwarka in the evening, a team comprising Sub-Inspectors Rajkumar, Ravinder Tyagi, Shiv Shankar and others laid a trap near Chandrika Banquet Hall.

The police overpowered Munir and one of his accomplices, later identified as Khalil.
