The ancient temple dedicated to Lord Sreevallabha (Vishnu) is considered to be one of the 108 Tirupathis by the Vaishnavites. The Tantri, Akeeramon Kalidasa Bhattathiri, will lead the atonement rituals as prescribed at a `Devaprasnam' held at the temple in January. The rituals include the Ashtadravya Ganapathi Homam, Trikala pooja, Rigveda Murajapam, Yajurveda Murajapam, Samaveda Murajapam, Chakrabja pooja, flower decoration and `Ahaas' (one-day pooja). The first phase of the rituals at the temple was held from June 8 to 14.
