HYDERABAD, JULY 25. Three Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leaders have decried the remarks of senior Telugu Desam functionaries that the TRS president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, will merge the party with the Congress. The three leaders -- Desini Chinamallaiah, Mukka Sambasivaraju and P. Krishnamurthy -- told a news conference here on Sunday that Mr. Rao had never said he would merge the TRS with the Congress. His recent meeting with the AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, was misquoted saying he had asked her to concede Telangana State in consideration of which he would merge the TRS with Congress. The TDP gave a further twist to what had transpired between Ms. Gandhi and Mr. Rao. Its leaders -- N. Janardhan Reddy and M. Narasimhulu -- claimed that there was no move to give Statehood to Telangana and Mr. Rao would outright merge the TRS with the Congress.
