HYDERABAD, JULY 26 . The overcast skies and wet clouds in the State, left behind by the low pressure area, were fully exploited by cloud-seeding experts of Agni Aviation on Monday resulting in light to moderate rain at nine places in Mahabubnagar and Kurnool districts. Taking off at 4.30 p.m. here, the Cessna aircraft manned by a pilot and co-pilot, according to the authorities, criss-crossed the skies over the two districts chasing the clouds at high altitudes. The plane shot several flares of silver iodide and calcium chloride, leading to rainfall, it was stated. Already alerted, district Collectors sent revenue officials with rain gauges for measuring the extent of the gain at the villages. The actual figures will be available tomorrow. The places covered during the one and a half hour of operation were Gadwal, Atmakur, Wanaparthy, Panagal and Srirangapurm in Mahabubnagar district, and Kalwabugga, Gorakallu, Panyam and Veldurthi in Kurnool district. Tuesday, and for that matter, the period up to Thursday is promising, experts say.
