Government keen to end deadlock on land compensation
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
JULY 26.
The State Government has asked the Special Collector of Telugu Ganga project to finalise within a month the compensation to be paid to owners of lands which were surrendered for the construction of Velugode project in Kurnool district.
After a meeting of officials, land evacuees and MLAs in the Assembly lobbies on Monday, the Major Irrigation Minister, Ponnala Laxmaiah, told reporters that the Government was keen to end the stalemate in payment of compensation for lands acquired for all irrigation projects. A final decision on the dosage of compensation for Velugode project would be decided on `humanitarian grounds' based on the Special Collector's recommendation.
