Housing finance ticks 29 p.c. growth
NEW DELHI: Thanks to the housing boom, direct housing finance disbursals by banks and finance companies rose by 29 per cent to Rs. 53,685 crore during 2003-04, National Housing Bank said today. The NHB, the apex supervisor for the housing finance, said aggregate loan disbursals by housing finance companies (HFCs) was Rs. 20,869 crores and those by scheduled commercial banks Rs. 32,816 crores in the last fiscal. In the previous fiscal, HFCs and banks had extended house loans worth Rs. 41,385 crores.
Aggregate disbursals of HFCs grew by 17 per cent to Rs. 20,869 crores in 2003-04 from Rs. 17,832 crores in the previous fiscal. At the same time, loan disbursals of scheduled commercial banks grew by 39 per cent for banks (SCBs) to Rs. 32,816 crores in the last fiscal from Rs. 23,553 crores in 2002-03.
