Temperature

TIRUCHI, JULY 26. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 33.2 degree Celsius and a minimum of 26.5 degree Celsius.

Youth killed

A 20-year-old youth was killed and another suffered serious head injuries when the two-wheeler in which they were travelling from Thuraiyur, hit against a tree in Kalipatti on Sunday.

The police said Praveen of Woraiyur in Tiruchi died on the way to the K.A.P. Viswanatham Medical College Hospital while Gowrishankar has been admitted for treatment.

A case has been registered.

Loadmen withdraw stir

Loadmen in the Gandhi Market withdrew their strike today after revenue authorities forged a reconciliation between them and commission agents of English vegetables last night.

According to the police, as per the agreement, three load men — Kannan, Paramasivam and Kaliamoorthy — accused of clashing with cashiers of a commission agent's shop, had to stay away from work, till completion of an enquiry.

Also, the loadmen agreed to choose two coordinators amongst themselves to depute workforce to the commission agents in a need-based manner, on a random basis.
