Sir, The photograph of the one-year-old malnourished child (July 25) is a stark revelation of the state of affairs in our country after 57 years of independence. The GDP is going up by the year. Our granaries are full. Why then this pathetic condition?

Sir, Malnutrition and resultant infant deaths are the result of skewed policies and indifference of politicians. I wonder how such a state of affairs exists when every State has its MPs and MLAs, and villages have sarpanchs. This, despite the claim that the granaries of the Food Corporation of India are overflowing.
