`Rein in violent elements'

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JULY 27. The Chief Minister, A. K. Antony, has urged the leadership of various Opposition parties to rein in their cadres who have been indulging in violence and arson over the last few days.

Responding to a submission by Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan (Congress) in the Assembly today, Mr. Antony said the police would be constrained to act sternly if the violence continued. Referring to Mr. Radhakrishnan's complaint that his house at Adoor was targeted by the agitating students, the Speaker, Vakkom Purushothaman, said the incident was a disgrace and a threat to democracy.
