People's War meeting today

By Our Staff Reporter

WARANGAL, JULY 27. Arrangements for the People's War public meeting, scheduled to be held at the Enumamula agricultural market yard on the outskirts of the town on Wednesday, are in full swing.

At Mogilicherla village, a martyr's memorial is under construction. After unveiling the memorial, leaders of the outfit will proceed to the market yard, the venue of the meeting, in procession. Despite incessant drizzle, labourers are going ahead with their work.

Two lakh people expected

Even as the general public and observers are curious about turnout at the public meeting, the organisers expect that over two lakh people will attend the meeting.

Police in plainclothes are seen moving both at the market yard and at Mogilicherla village taking note of the things such as identity of visitors and who is doing what and who is giving instructions to whom.

According to sources, the Police Department is contemplating drafting the personnel working in various mandals for the meeting. "Possibility of deputing officials from other places is ruled out. Only those who can identify the cadre are being asked to report at the headquarters,'' said one of the officials in special branch.

Transport operators warned

Meanwhile, it is learnt that some police officials in Regonda, Narasampet, Kothaguda and other forest areas are trying to discourage people from attending the meeting. Some of them reportedly visited the interior villages and warned autorickshaw and jeep drivers not to arrange transport for the meeting.

The revolutionary poet, Varavara Rao, has accused the police at the lower rung of trying to create obstacles for the public meeting despite the Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, himself giving a green signal.
