TIRUNELVELI, JULY 27. Asserting that yesterday's attack on him was ``the handwork of a group, which wanted to control the entire Tamil society through its violent activities'', the Puthiya Tamizhagam president, K. Krishnasamy, today said such acts would not deter him. Speaking to reporters in a private hospital here, where he was admitted after the attack, Dr. Krishnasamy said the assailants, who aimed at exterminating him and thereby destroying the right platform to voice the problems of the `oppressed community', could not destabilise his determination through such cowardly attacks. He also appealed to his party cadres not to stage any agitation, as the attack was a golden opportunity to expose the sinister designs of the group, which was continuously indulging in violence. Asked whether the police enquiry was going on the right track, he said it was too early to say anything about the findings at this stage and he would comment only after a couple of days. He said he did not see any political background for the attack. Police sources said the assailants could have made this attempt, as they strongly believed that two of the nine murderers of the Ramaiyanpatti village head, Krishnan, in December last were protected by Dr. Krishnasamy. However, Dr. Krishnasamy denied it.
