Ryot electrocuted; wife attempts suicide

GUNTUR, JULY 27. A farmer of Polepalli village in the district, Desam Amaralinga Reddy, 25, died when he accidentally came in contact with live wire at the borewell in his fields on Tuesday.

The farmer's wife, Malleswari, 20, attempted suicide by consuming pesticide at 11 a.m. unable to bear the shock of Reddy's death. She was admitted to hospital at Macherla.

In another incident, a lorry driver was relieved of Rs.1 lakh that he was carrying in his vehicle loaded with cement from Kodada to Kanigiri. Five persons allegedly got into the cabin as passengers and at knifepoint they snatched away the cash at Perala Addurodu in Veldurthi mandal, according to the police.
