Maheshwaran scores winner

BANGALORE, JULY 27. In a finish that went right up to the wire, Maheshwaran's injury time strike won the day for the Karnataka State Police in the Puttaiah Memorial football tournament for super division teams here today.

In a tense encounter where the initiative swung back and fourth KSP and LRDE took turns to lead and were level 2-2 into added time when Maheshwaran's second goal of the day sealed LRDE"s fate to hand the side its second defeat in as many outings. For KSP the win has neutralised its earlier loss.

Ashok took LRDE ahead in 20 th minute. It was a rather uneasy breather for KSP but a minute into resumption, the scores were level with Maheshwaran finding the mark.

The cops charged ahead when Vinod Kumar met with success as late as the 74th minute but four minutes from time Satish found the all important equaliser for LRDE.

Then came that magic moment, so nicely seized by Maheshwaran.

In another match, HAL and SAI played out a 1-1 draw, both goals coming in the second half. The ever reliable Dayanand put HAL infront with a 58th minute strike only to find Prakash pull one back for SAI in the 76th minute.
