Certificates sought for re-verification

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JULY 27. Anna University has asked students and parents of Sardar Raja College of Engineering, Alangulam, Rajaas Engineering College, Vadakkangulam, Jayamatha Engineering College, Aralvaimozhi, and Joe Suresh Engineering College, Mundaradaipu, to bring all the original certificates, NRI documents for re-verification.

This advisory pertains to students admitted under management quota/lapsed seats and NRI quota during 2001-02, 2002-03, 2003-04.

`Certificates not sent'

According to the University Vice-Chancellor, E. Balagurusamy, the certificates of some of these students admitted under the management/NRI quota were not sent in for verification. Despite being called to do so by the University, the colleges had not done so.

The Admission approval Coordination Committee constituted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) scrutinised the documents, certificates and records available in the offices of the University and the Directorate and submitted a report, recommending the cancellation of admission of over 400 candidates admitted under the management/lapsed and NRI quota.

`Report before July 30'

Accordingly, the admission cancellation orders were sent to the principals of these colleges by the DTE on July 20 with a request to report back on the action taken before July 30.

The students of these colleges should meet the respective principals to get details and report to the DTE office or the university with the original certificates/documents to regularise their admissions as per the Tamil Nadu Government norms. Students should also send in their complaints to the university regarding any malpractice in admissions.

The advisory was given, according to the Vice Chancellor, for the benefit of students, as some of the students whose provisional eligibility were rejected the university, were still continuing their studies (as the colleges did not inform them of the cancellation of admissions).
