Temperature

MADURAI, JULY 27. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 35.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.4 degrees Celsius.

News bulletin

The All India Radio, Madurai, will broadcast a five-minute regional news bulletin, `Nammai Suttri', from August 1. The bulletin will be broadcast twice a day at 7.25 a.m. and 6.40 p.m., according to an official press release.

Conference

The 17th conference of Madurai Kamaraj-Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Teachers' Association will be held in the city on September 25 and 26. A resolution to this effect was passed at a central executive committee meeting held on Sunday.

The theme of the conference will be `Right to strike is a fundamental right.' The MUTA will also conduct sports, games and cultural competitions for college students.

Earlier, the meeting expressed grief over the death of 92 children in the Kumakonam fire tragedy and resolved to donate a sum of Rs.one lakh as relief.
