HYDERABAD, JULY 27. Members belonging to different backward castes took out a rally to Indira Park here today from Baghlingampalli, led by R. Krishnaiah of the Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Association, demanding house-sites to the houseless and pattas to those already under possession. Addressing the rally, Mr. Krisnaiah demanded 50 per cent reservation for BCs in the Assembly and Parliament, and inclusion of the benefit in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution. He sought a separate department for BC welfare at the Centre with an initial allocation of Rs. 2,000 crores, considering the fact that BCs constituted 60 per cent of the country's population.
