Cloudy day

NEW DELHI JULY 27. A generally cloudy sky has been forecast for the Capital on Wednesday. According to the weatherman, rain or thundershowers are also likely in some areas.

The maximum and minimum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Tuesday was 36 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively. At Palam, the maximum and minimum temperature was 36.6 and 28 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum humidity recorded at Safdarjung and Palam was 90 per cent and 85 per cent respectively. While the minimum humidity at Safadarjung and Palam was 57 and 48 per cent respectively.

Branch opened

NEW DELHI JULY 27. The Delhi Police Commissioner, K.K. Paul, inaugurated a police-public interface forum, "Dost", at Jama Masjid in Central Delhi today.

The initiative is a part of the Delhi police's programme of taking community policing forward. The premises, located at old police station building of Jama Masjid, has been equipped with a library and a gymnasium where young men of the area can walk in and avail of the services.

Dr. Paul said that young men, who get sucked into the vicious cycle of crime for lack of anything constructive to do, can use the premises and spend their time in a much more constructive manner. Shortly, the "Dost" premises will also have a public telephone booth.

The function was attended by senior police officers, Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari and prominent persons from the locality.

Body found

NEW DELHI JULY 27. The body of a 34-year-old man, who had gone missing on July 25, was found in Haiderpur canal at Prashant Vihar in North-West Delhi today.

According to the police, Ishwar, a resident of Sector-11 Prashant Vihar, had gone missing on July 25 following which a missing complaint was lodged at Prashant Vihar police station. On Monday, a kidnapping case was registered.

Today, the police found Ishwar's body from Haiderpur canal during the day.

Injured

NEW DELHI JULY 27. A six-year-old schoolgirl sustained minor injuries when a motorcycle hit the Maruti van in which she was returning home from school near Mandi House this afternoon. The motorcyclist also sustained minor injuries.

The incident occurred around 1-30 p.m. when the motorcycle hit the van carrying students of Lady Irwin School. The police said only one student, Naina Aggarwal, sustained minor injuries, while the motorcycle rider, Vivek, also sustained injuries.

Hoax call

NEW DELHI JULY 27. A call claiming that a bomb had been planted in RML Hospital forced the police to search the entire area on Monday. However, no explosives were found following which the call was declared a hoax.

The call was later traced to a public booth inside the hospital.
