Anju finishes fifth

STOCKHOLM, JULY 28. Anju George had a disappointing 6.60 metres for the fifth place in the DN Galan Super Grand Prix meet as she wound up her major European circuit programme prior to the Athens Olympics on Tuesday.

Swede Carolina Kluft, overwhelming favourite to take the heptathlon gold in the Olympics, won the event with a last-round jump of 6.85m. Kluft, who has a best of 6.97m this season, also had jumps of 6.78 and 6.73. American Grace Upshaw was second with 6.71m, Australian Bronwyn Thompson third with 6.63 and Latvian Valentina Gotovska fourth (6.61).
