VISAKHAPATNAM, JULY 28. Thrilled by local self-governance in the United Kingdom, the Mayor, Rajana Ramani, on Wednesday declared that the All India Mayors' Council (AIMC) would take up with the appropriate authorities the need for a constitutional amendment to make local self-governance in India more effective. After attending a five-day workshop on local self-governance at Brighton and Hove and Lewisham cities of the UK along with eight other Mayors from India, Ms. Ramani, who is the vice-chairperson of the AIMC, told reporters that they would try for introduction of Cabinet system adopted by the municipal councils in the UK. She said the Cabinet's members were nominated by the Mayor to look after various departments.
