Anantapur
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, JULY 28. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today suspended from the party the Chairman of the Anantapur Zilla Parishad, Jonna Suryanarayana, after he defied its directive to resign from his post. The TDP had sought Mr. Suryanarayana's resignation after allegations of corruption, misbehaviour and favouring of those belonging to other parties were levelled against him. However, the reasons for Mr. Suryanarayana's suspension are said to be political, as he is allegedly veering towards the Congress the party to which his brother, Jonna Ramaiah, who was elected from the Kadiri constituency, belongs. In reply to a question, the TDP leaders said Paritala Ravi, the party MLA from Penukonda who also faces allegations, was in a "different league." There was no need for disciplinary action against him, they said.
