US&S' system for Railways
BANGALORE: Union Switch and Signal India (US&S India), a Bangalore-based subsidiary of Ansaldo Signal NV, Dutch manufacturer of railway signalling, control and automation systems, has created a processor based interlocking (PBI) system for Indian railways, a company release said here. Two PBI units have been commissioned in stations near Vishakapatnam, in association with M.R. Trading Company, Kolkata, for the East Coast Railways (ECR) using US&S's MicroLock II, the release said. This technology had "generated interest in the Indian Railways, which uses the older system of Panel interlocking or route relay interlocking," to control large stations and yards, the release said.
