Falcon, SAI (Dharwad) win

BANGALORE, JULY 28. Falcon and SAI (Dharwad) recorded wins on the rain-affected opening day of the State `B' division basketball league at the Sree Kanteerava stadium outdoor courts here on Wednesday evening.

Before the rains forced the organisers to reschedule three of the five matches to Thursday morning,

Falcon downed Bharath Sports Union 46-29 in a pool `C' encounter while Sports Authority of India (Dharwad) overwhelmed Bangalore Sporting 40-18, in a group A match.

SAI, which was relegated from the `A' division last season, simply walked all over Sporting boys to register a comfortable win. Lakshman Ghasti top-scored with 20 points.

Falcon raced to a 46-29 win over Bharath S.U.

The groupings: Group A: SAI, Dharwad, BEL, Bangalore Sporting, Orions. Group B: SBI, Young Orions SC, Sports Hostel and IBBC. Group C: Koramangala, Sharath S.U, Falcon.

The results: Falcon 46 (Shekar 14, Allwyn 8) bt Bharath SU 29 (Bharat 9, Jacob 5)(Ht: 30-13); SAI, Dharwad 40 (Lakshman Ghasti 20) bt Bangalore Sporting 18 (Karthik 9, Babu 6)(Ht: 28-14).
