WARANGAL, JULY 28. Amid apprehensions about future repression by the police, thousands of people turned up for the public meeting organised by the People's War here to have a glimpse of Balladeer Gadar and to listen his songs. A large number of people came from all corners of the district and other parts of the State as well voluntarily. The Enumamula market yard was packed to the full and people were seen squatting on terraces surrounding the venue. The Arunodaya Samskruthika Mandali, Jana Natya Mandali, Vangapandu Prasad and his troupe and others attracted the audience with their cultural activity.
Public demand
The public disrupted the speeches of leaders demanding songs from Gadar. His songs and dance enthused the audience. There was a big applause from the public whenever Gadar came onto to the dais. Apprehension about the police harassment in future seems to have restrained many a person from attending the meeting. There was a talk in the town that the police were videographing all those proceeding towards the public meeting.
Rumours
There were also rumours that important cadre, including the People's War State committee secretary, Akkiraju Haragopal alias Ramakrishna, were among the public. Policemen in plainclothes moved at every possible location both at Mogilicherla and at the Enumamula agricultural market yard. However, a few policemen in uniform were seen on the outskirts of Mogilicherla and at a distance from the venue of the public meeting. Since early hours, hundreds of people reached Mogilicherla. Except delay in the beginning of the meeting, people were not put to much inconvenience. Water was made available through municipal tankers and also from vendors who had put up temporary stalls all over the venue.
