MANGALORE, JULY 28. A coordination committee of different organisations in Dakshina Kannada has threatened to launch an agitation if the State Government transfers two senior officials from the district, under pressure from whom it called "vested interests''. P.B. D'Sa, president of the committee, told presspersons here on Wednesday that some forces were trying to get the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police transferred. These officials had taken stern action against anti-social elements in the district. If they were transferred before they completed their tenure in the district, the committee would launch an agitation. He claimed that the committee had conveyed its sentiments to the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh; the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah; and the Chief Secretary, K.K. Misra. Members of the committee would soon launch a dharna in front of the offices and houses of the presidents of district unit of the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) in support of its demand.
