BANGALORE, JULY 28. Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has earmarked Rs. 35 lakh in this year's budget to plant over 15,000 saplings in all its vacant sites in the city, the Mayor, P.R. Ramesh, said here on Wednesday. The Mayor was inspecting development work taken up in Shantinagar, Austin Town, and Richmond Town. He said saplings would be planted in available vacant area in the BMP schools, hospitals and burial grounds. The Mayor, who earlier inaugurated a tree-planting programme in Shantinagar, said the programme would be completed by August end. Planting would be taken up simultaneously in all wards in consultation with the area corporators, he said. He asked the BMP engineers to repair the retaining walls of storm water drains running along Vinayakanagar 1st Main Road in Shantinagar.
