Sai, Varma take joint lead

HYDERABAD, JULY 29. J.V. Sai Kiran and M.R.P. Varma, with three points each, emerged jointly in the lead at the end of three rounds in the Hyderabad YMCA's 14th annual chess tournament for boys and girls (under 12) at the Hyderabad YMCA premises here on Thursday.

The results (third round): J.V. Sai Kiran (3) bt R. Shankar (2); M.R.P. Varma (3) bt K. Sukrutha (2); Koundinya (2.5) bt Vishnu (1); Mani Mohan (2.5) bt C.K.C. Hari (1); Amog Varsha (2) bt G. Rishikesh (1); Sai Akshay (2) bt Shravani (1); Pratima Jandyala (1) after a bye.
