`Game plan is to make Stalin Chief Minister'

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JULY 29. The Bharatiya Janata Party today blamed other Opposition parties for, what it called, working for the dismissal of the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government on grounds of "deteriorating law and order."

C.P. Radhakrishnan, State president, told presspersons here that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and other parties, by criticising the Government for the recent spate of robberies, wanted it removed so that early Assembly elections could be held. Also, they were so `dissatisfied' with the working of the United Progressive Alliance at the Centre that they knew that they would not benefit if the elections were conducted as scheduled in 2006. "This is why the Opposition parties want immediate polls to the Assembly and the DMK's game plan is to make M.K. Stalin Chief Minister," Mr. Radhakrishnan said.

The BJP did not support the demand for snap polls. "They (the Opposition parties) will not succeed in their plan and their failure will be for the good of democracy."

Alluding to leaders of the Democratic Progressive Alliance presenting a memorandum to the Governor P.S. Ramamohan Rao on the manner of conduct of the Assembly, the BJP leader wondered how those who did not have faith in the Governor wanted to make a representation him. "Only M. Karunanidhi (DMK president) should explain this," he added.
