HYDERABAD, JULY 29. The Speaker, K.R. Suresh Reddy, told reporters here on Thursday that an effort is on to implement the agenda set by the President, A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, in his address to the State Assembly recently. Mr. Reddy said members of the House had a lively interaction with the President and were impressed by his message. It was the duty of the Legislature to take the President's message to the Government and make it work to be committed to the uplift of the downtrodden. Issues like rural development and technological advances mentioned by Dr. Kalam could not be ignored, he said. Expressing satisfaction at the conduct of the Budget session of the House - which concluded today - Mr. Reddy said he tried to be impartial throughout the session and gave all members equal chance to express their views. As for the time given to the members, it depended on the numerical strength of the parties concerned. During the debates, 20 new members utilised the opportunity given to them well and 30 senior members also shared their view, he said. Acrimony was normal and perhaps more interactive sessions could lead to develop a better understanding among the MLAs, he felt. Dr. Reddy said instructions had been issued to the Ministers to give written replies to the members' queries in zero hour within three days. He said 18 committees, including the Ethics Committee, would be constituted soon. He urged members to make quality use of the time allotted to them henceforth.
