Balaji, Meenu given pride of place

ALAPPUZHA, JULY 29. Thiruvananthapuram's C.J. Balaji and Meenu Raj have been given the top billing in the men's and women's sections of the E. John Philipose Trophy all-Kerala prize-money table tennis tournament which begins at the Alappuzha YMCA on Friday.

Competition will be held in 11 categories. Abraham Thayyil, MD, John's Umbrella Mart, will inaugurate the tournament.

The seedings:

Men: 1. C.J. Balaji, 2. P. Manoj, 3. M.R. Rajeev.

Junior boys: Mathew N. Mathew, 2. S. Srikkanth, 3. Abhinav Renjith.

Sub-junior boys: 1. Naveen Kurien, 2. Anjali Purathoor.

Cadet boys: 1. M. Harikrishnan, 2. S. Arjun, 3. K.J. Arjun.

Women: 1. Meenu Raj, 2. Aparna D. Nair, 3. M.S. Bindu.

Junior girls: 1. Anjana Gopi, 2. Anju K. Thomas, 3. Sruthi Renjith; Sub-junior girls: 1. Chris Winny James, 2. Lakshmi Prabha, 3.Atheena Latheef.

Cadet girls: U. Ebthi Sam, 2. Ambily Sebastian, 3. Karthika Gopal.
