Tirupati
By Our Staff Reporter
TIRUPATI, JULY 30. The president of the Chittoor district consumer forum, P. Ramachandra Reddy, and member, T. Sujatha Devi, have ordered the arrest of Vinod Baid, former managing director of Kolkata-based Prudential Capital Markets (P) Ltd, and presently a director of Prudential Mouli Sugars, Nagari, for non-compliance of the order passed by the forum in three cases.
Two cases filed
According to the case, A.K. Bhagyalakshmi of Tirupati had filed two cases (and one by her husband) on Vinod Baid before the district forum in June 99 for non-refund of deposit amounts totalling to Rs.2 lakhs. She again filed penalty petitions as he failed to comply with the earlier orders. While Baid could initially obtain a conditional stay from the High Court, the case was dismissed in November 2000. When approached, the State Commission too dismissed his petition and a revision petition was filed by him. Based on the second order, the district forum ordered the arrest of Vinod Baid for non-compliance of its order.
