KOLLAM, JULY 31. The District Collector, B. Sreenivas, has directed the heads of departments to inspect as per the rules and submit a report on state of the development projects under implementation in the district. This was to ensure whether these projects served its purpose. He was delivering the presidential address at a meeting of the District Development Council here today. Mr. Sreenivas said the projects were implemented with the taxpayers' money after being sanctioned by the Government with the aim of improving the living standards of the people. Hence it was the duty of the Government officials to ensure that the entire money allocated for the purpose was being fully utilised for such projects. Mr. Sreenivas said on inspection of some block panchayat roads he was not at all satisfied with the quality though it was informed that cent per cent of the allocation had been utilised for these. He called upon the officials to ensure that such haphazard works on projects were not repeated. Following submission of inspection reports to him, he himself would conduct the final inspection, the Collector said. Any lapse or fault detected would invite strong action, the Collector warned.
