HYDERABAD, JULY 31. The "serious" comments made by the Comptroller and Auditor-General (CAG) on the "lapses" committed during 2002-03 by the previous Government will be discussed in depth by the Cabinet to formulate the response and give a "satisfactory reply," the Finance Minister, K. Rosaiah, said here on Saturday. "The remarks can't be ignored. They are very serious type of comments and have to be studied in-depth," he said at a press conference. Replying to a question on imposition of fresh taxes, he said the Government was not thinking on those lines. He said the Government would request the Planning Commission to treat the subsidy provided to supply free power to farmers as an input, on the lines of fertilisers and seeds.
TDP charge refuted
Refuting the TDP allegation that the session was a "probes session", he said the TDP had instituted as many as 21 House committee inquiries and a judicial probe in 1995-96, as against 12 constituted by the government. The government had to do so after the TDP dared every time to order a probe. On the suggestion for appointing subject committees to enable MLAs have a detailed discussion on the demands of various departments, he said such committees were working in five States.
