HYDERABAD, JULY 31. The State Government is in the process of formulating a three-pronged strategy to take the administration close to people in districts which were affected by naxalite violence. This was disclosed by the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, at a meeting of the top brass of the police force convened here on Saturday. According to an official press release, Dr. Reddy announced that he would be convening a meeting of all political parties on Monday to deliberate on the formulation of a programme to redress the problems of people.
Panels likely
As part of bringing the administration closer to people, the Government was also planning to constitute a mandal-level committee with MRO, MDO and SI of police as members so that the committee could identify the socio-economic problems and initiate action to solve them. Similarly, at the district level, the district administration including the police would prepare some cultural programme in association and spread the message of the Government's efforts to solve people's issues.
Advice to police
Dr. Reddy advised police officials to view the Government's efforts to establish peace by holding negotiations with the naxalites in the right perspective. He asked the police to observe restraint during the period of ceasefire. Earlier, the Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy explained the efforts of the Government to make the State a peaceful and investment-friendly State so that it could prosper faster than before.
