Spurious liquor manufacturing unit raided

By Our Staff Correspondent

RAICHUR, JULY 31. The Raichur Police raided a spurious liquor manufacturing unit in the city and seized a large quantity of spurious Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) and arrack, along with fake labels and slips, spirit, chemicals, and bottle sealing machines. They also arrested one person.

The Superintendent of Police, P. Harisekaran, said that the police had got information that a four-member gang was involved in manufacturing spurious IMFL and arrack, and selling it in and around the city. He said a team of officers identified a house in Nijalingappa, where the accused — Pampangouda, Rangangouda, Yellapa and an unidentified person — had allegedly set up a unit to manufacture spurious liquor and arrack. The team raided the house on Friday and seized a large quantity of liquor and also arrested Pampangouda. The other accused are at large. Pampangouda has been remanded in judicial custody, and the police are on the lookout for the others.
