KOZHIKODE, JULY 31. The Kozhikode Judicial First Class Magistrate-I, P.S. Ananthakrishnan, today remanded six activists of the Kerala Vidyarthi Sanghatana (KVS) and the CPI (ML) Red Flag to the district jail till August 13, in connection with the burning in effigy "a Supreme Court judge" inside a court room here on Friday. The six activists, the KVS State secretary, K.P. Liju Kumar, the district secretary, K.P. Sisilu, and the district vice-president, A.M. Mini, and the district secretary of the K.N. Ramachandran-led CPI(ML) Redflag faction, P.T. Haridas, the State joint secretary, P.K. Priyesh Kumar, and the district committee member, Rajeevan Valoor, were arrested inside the court room and from the city on Friday. The hearing on the bail application of the remanded activists would be taken up on August 2. The activists raised slogans against self-financing professional college managements in the court premises today.
