MANGALORE, JULY 31. The Mangalore City Corporation will take up concreting of the stretch of the road between Lady Hill and Urva Stores at a cost of Rs. 3.2 crores from August 16. Tenders for the work have been finalised. The MCC will talk to Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. (KPTCL) to relocate high-tension power lines along this stretch.
Inspection
The Mayor, Purandaradas Kuloor, inspected the area on Wednesday. He was accompanied by the Executive Engineer, Suresh Babu; the former Mayor, Shashidhar Hegde; the Chief Whip in the corporation, Mahabala Marla; and corporators Ashraf, Kamalaksha Salian and Padmanabha Ameen. The team took note of the deterioration in the condition of the road and ordered for emergency repairs. When completed, motorists can drive from Kottara Chowki up to PVS Junction on a four-lane concrete road. The MCC had concreted the stretch from Lady Hill junction to PVS junction in May 2003. The Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) had completed the concreting work between Kottara Chowki and Urva Stores earlier.
