Drop in humidity

Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 34.1 degree Celsius and minimum of 24.7 degree Celsius on Saturday. Humidity, which was recorded at 74 per cent in the morning dropped to 62 per cent in the evening.

Power shutdown

There will be no power supply in Kothapeta section from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday and in Suryaraopet section from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday.

The affected areas in Kothapet are: Chittinagar Centre, Edka Mahal Road, Anjaneya Vagu, Bangaraiah Kottu, Anjaneya Vagu hill area, Ravichettu Centre, Kothapet, some parts of Gollapalem Gattu.

Suryaraopet section: part of Eluru Road between Chuttugunta Centre and SRR College, Veeranna Street, part of Masjid Street, Mayor Street, Kakatiya College, Goginenivari Street, Milk Booth Street, Bhagath Singh Road, Hindi College Road, DBK Street and BSNL office.

Commodity prices

The following were the prices (in rupees per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Saturday: Groundnut oil-53.50, palmolein oil - 46, sunflower oil-53.50, tamarind (flower variety)-31 to 35, tamarind (karipuli variety)-40 to 45, chillies (refrigerated)-24 to 28, chillies-14 to 18, rice (2716)-13, rice superfine (samba masoori) 14 to 15, rice sona masoori-15 to 16, black gram (pottu minapappu)- 9 to 25, red gram (kandipappu)-28.50 to 34.

Deaths condoled

The president and secretary of Andhra Cricket Association, K. V. Rao, and N. Venkata Rao, respectively condoled the death of Ch. Dileep Kumar, an under-19 cricket player from Kakinada, who died while playing a tournament in Srikakulam. In another statement, the Krishna district chapter of All-India Lawyers Union condoled the death of Bodepudi Venkateswara Rao, a lawyer in Khammam, while attending court.

Free training

Sri Sivani Institute will organise free training classes for women in making bakery items, from August 2 to 5. The training will be imparted from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in batches. Hindi Vidyarthi Mela

Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha will conduct its examinations in Prathamic, Madhyama, Rashtra Bhasha, Pravesika, Visarada and Praveena on August 21 and 22.

The sabha has proposed to organize a Hindi Vidyarthi Mela on August 8 at its branch office in Machavaram. Expert teachers will conduct classes on grammar, translation and other related syllabus. For details contact phone number 0866-2433404.

SFI bandh call

The Students' Federation of India (SFI) has called for a bandh of all colleges on August 4 in Krishna district seeking immediate release of arrears of scholarships, according to the district secretary of the federation, Ch. Krishna.
