Temperature

TIRUCHI, JULY 31. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 34.1 degree Celsius and a minimum of 26.4 degree Celsius.

Building plan approvals

The Corporation has issued building plan approvals for 158 out of 196 applications received in June, the Commissioner, Harmander Singh, says in a press release.

The approvals were issued in respect of 25 applications received from the Ariyamangalam zone, 16 from Srirangam, 59 from K.Abishekapuram and 58 from Golden Rock zone.

Besides, 148 new water connections have been provided out of 198 applications received during the month. These included 41 from Ariyamangalam zone, 14 from Srirangam, 80 from K.Abhishekapuram and 13 from Golden Rock zone.

Complaints regarding delays in issue of plan approvals and grant of water connections can be lodged with the Commissioner in person or over the telephone at 2415393.

Free coaching classes

Under the auspices of the Centre for Youth Development and Studies of Bharathidasan Univeirsity, free coaching classes will be held in August and September for the benefit of those planning to write the competitive examinations to be conducted by the University Grants Commission (JRF and NET), CSIR, UPSC and SLET.

Those who are interested can register their names with the Coordinator, CYDS, by sending necessary details on or before August 10. The programme begins on August 14, a release from the university said.

Extended

The last date for issue and receipt of application forms for M.Phil. courses of Bharathidasan University has been extended to August 20, says a press release from the Registrar (in-charge) of the university, V.Ayothi.

Installed

M. Venkatesh and R. Raja were installed president and secretary respectively of the Rotary Club of Tiruchi Metro, at a recent function.

Humorist, Gnanasambandan, offered felicitations. Distribution of benefits marked the event.

Mettur level

Water level at the Mettur reservoir stood at 72.52 feet today. The inflow was 8,707 cusecs and the discharge was 5,850 cusecs.
