HYDERABAD, JULY 31. The Rangareddy district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has charged the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) with neglecting the interests of the district while initiating development activities in the city.Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, S.Malla Reddy, president of the party district unit, said the HUDA, which collected development charges and other fees like for change in land use from the district, was not pumping the revenue back for development of rural segments. Dr. Reddy suggested that at least 50 per cent of revenue collected from the villages be handed over to the local gram panchayats or local bodies for taking up development initiatives there. He also sought participation of HUDA representatives in the general body meetings of local bodies.
Outer ring road
The party objected to the outer ring road that passes through Miyapur, Gachibowli, Shamshabad, Nadargul, Hayathnagar, Nagaram and Kompally and said the very purpose of such a project would be defeated because of wrong planning. "Since the city has spread out till Patancheru, there is no point in having an outer ring road at Miyapur. The traffic which is to be avoided from entering the city will end up criss-crossing the city at different points," said Dr.Reddy. Also, the outer ring road would be passing through reserved forests, inhabitations, and water bodies, the party said and suggested that the project be shifted to either Patancheru or Muthangi.
