THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JULY 31. The Second Additional Sessions Judge, B. Sudheendra Kumar, has sentenced Krishnapillai alias Unni (42) to rigorous imprisonment for life for killing his wife. A fine of Rs. 5,000 also has been imposed on him. The judge asked Krishnapillai to undergo another one-year imprisonment if he does not pay the fine. According to the prosecution, Krishnapillai stabbed to death his wife, Saraswathi Amma, a resident of Palliman Veedu, Vembayam in Nedumangad taluk, around 10 a.m. on September 25, 2002. A quarrel over not handing over electrical work of a building, which was being constructed by Saraswathi Amma, to Krishnapillai, an electrician, had led to the murder.
