Four doctors qualify

NEW DELHI, AUG. 1. Four doctors, Col. S. Guha Roy of the Services, Dr. Manaranjan Sharma of Manipur, Dr. Gaurav Sharma of Delhi and Dr. Retaish Kumar of Jammu and Kashmir have qualified for the Post Graduate diploma in sports medicine, a course conducted by the Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports in collaboration with Government Medical College, Patiala.

The head of the department of sports medicine in NIS, Dr. Ashok Ahuja, stated in a release that the qualified doctors, who have been imparted knowledge in various aspects like exercise physiology and biochemistry, sports psychology, sports anthropometry, sports traumatology, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, sports biomechanics and kinesiology, nutrition and the doping aspects, need to be utilised a lot more by the state and national federations.

It was also mentioned that 17 of the 67 doctors qualified from the institute were working in different clubs in Australia, Bahrain, United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates.
