Cement, steel dealers to form cooperative

VISAKHAPATNAM, AUGUST 1. In a bid to get a better price, the cement and steel dealers in the city have decided to form a cooperative society so as to procure their requirement in bulk from major manufacturers. This was decided at the general body meeting of the Visakhapatnam Steel and Cement Dealers' Association (VSCDA) here on Sunday.

Briefing reporters on their decisions, the VSCDA general secretary, N. Venkateswara Rao, said that their appeals to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to provide them steel at discounted price had been rejected on several occasions.

By procuring steel from VSP in bulk at a discount, all the dealers in the city could get the benefit, he said, adding they would also try to get cement from major manufacturers through the cooperative society.
