Sangakkara, Chandana and Dilshan fined
COLOMBO,
AUG. 2.
Three Sri Lankan cricketers were fined on Monday by match referee Mike Procter for insulting and abusing Indian players during the final of the Asia Cup.
Procter of South Africa fined wicket keeper Kumar Sangakkara 100 percent of his match fee and Upul Chandana and Dilshan 50 percent, a statement by the Sri Lankan Cricket Board said.
Procter was not available for comment.
But a Sri Lankan cricket official said Sangakkara was found guilty of using language that was offensive to Harbhajan Singh, who put up a 46-run ninth-wicket stand with Zaheer Khan. It was the biggest stand of the Indian innings of 203 for nine in 50 overs.
Chandana and Dilshan were found guilty of insulting Mohammad Kaif. AP
