NALGONDA, AUG. 2. In a bizarre incident, a stray dog created havoc by biting about 70 persons at various places along the National Highway in Nalgonda district on Monday. According to information reaching here, the canine, which started attacking people at Suryapet, bit everyone who came its way. The biting spree continued up to 21 km, starting from Suryapet till it reached Nakrekal. It sprang on a group of people who were waiting to meet the local MLA, Nomula Narasimhaiah, and injured about 24 persons. The victims hailed from Korlapahad village it was learnt. The dog injured the residents of Suryapet, Inupamula and Nakrekal. However, a group of young people killed it at Nakrekal. "The dog came behind and pounced on me in a flash. In some cases, he jumped on to children's heads and bit them indiscriminately," a villager, who was being treated at the Nalgonda hospital, said. The injured were rushed to hospitals at Suryapet, Nakrekal and Nalgonda immdiately. The MLA sent the injured to the district headquarters hospital, where the doctors were kept on high alert. Three persons belonging to Nakrekal Swarupa (7), Durgamma (35) and Kavitha (16) were rushed to Hyderabad, medical sources said. The doctors administered rabipur vaccine to the victims. Government hospitals at the three places witnessed heavy rush with victims and their relatives, till reports last came in.
