CUDDAPAH, AUG. 2. The Superintendent of Police, V.C. Sajjanar, said on Monday that vocational training programmes would help the jobless youth earn a livelihood. Inaugurating a five-day skill development training camp on `cellphone repair,' organised by the STEP-CMEY, the SP exhorted youth to take an active part in tree plantation in slum areas for promoting greenery and assured the cooperation of the police department. The CEO of the Society for Training and Employment Programme (STEP), B. Maheswara Reddy, said 11,789 youth were being imparted training under CMEY. Pre-Army training was imparted to 830 youth, and skill development training to 900 youth, he said. Forty-seven youngsters were being trained in cellphone repair as of now, he said. The SP later gave away revolving fund of Rs. 10 lakhs by way of bank drafts to 13 CMEY women groups.
