Prasar Bharti CEO's nod to rebate on AIR cassettes

By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUPATI, AUG. 2. The chief executive officer of Prasar Bharti, K.S. Sharma, has paid a visit to the All India Radio's Tirupati station on Annamayya road here on Monday.

The CEO inspected the recording theatre and control room and also inquired the staff about the problems they faced.

On the poor sales of audiocassettes, primarily due to the exorbitant cost, Mr. Sharma declined the idea of price reduction, but agreed to allow discounts on special occasions like Brahmotsavams and other major festivals.

Plea for more manpower

The employees also urged him to increase manpower in the office and also recruit more marketing staff to propagate AIR's schemes.

Mr.Sharma was reportedly non-committal at the suggestion, but agreed to consider recruitment of field staff on consolidated basis.

Participates in fete

Mr. Sharma, who was here to participate in the concluding ceremony of the annual Thyagaraja festival of music and dance on Sunday, took part in the pre-dawn rituals at the temple of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala on Monday.
