KURNOOL, AUG. 2. The water in Alamatti reservoir across the Krishna in Karnataka is likely to reach surplus levels any time. According to information received by the Irrigation Department, the level in the reservoir reached 1703.53 ft accounting for storage of 116.23 tmcft as against the FRL of 1705 ft and full capacity of 129.72 tmcft. Inflow was around 50,800 cusecs. Since the gap is only 13 tmcft, the dam authorities might start releasing water any time. Meanwhile, the level in the Narayanpur reservoir reached 1610.54 as against the FRL of 1615 ft. Irrigation authorities of the State already started draining the reservoir by releasing 3,375 cusecs into the Jurala project downstream.
Flood level in Krishna
According to information, flood level is likely to rise in the Krishna river in the next few days with copious rain in the catchment area in Maharastra. On Monday, the level in Srisailam reservoir stood at 790.80 ft accounting for storage of 43.42 tmcft as against the FRL of 885 ft and 308.06 tmcft. The inflow into the reservoir was 3,480 cusecs. The level in TB dam at Hospet rose to 1616.28 ft accounting for storage of 54.64 tmcft as against the full capacity of 111.51 tmcft. Inflow into the reservoir was 32,624 cusecs.
